Property loans when buying off the plan

For off-the-plan properties, you won’t need the whole loan amount at the start. Instead you pay the deposit initially, then activate the rest of the loan when the property is completed and you take possession.

In a booming market, your property at completion may be valued at more than the figure in the contract. Some lenders will let you borrow up to 80% of that new valuation, which can mean you have additional funds available.

Another alternative is to buy your investment property through your SMSF, family trust or other discretionary trust.
